‘Undress Your Soul’

Four Seasons Hôtel Montréal

In English, we say: "Home"

But In poetry, we say: “A place where we can undress our soul”

In the tranquil embrace of the prestigious Four Seasons Hôtel in Montréal, Undress Your Soul unfolds as an immersive exploration of material, light, and emotion created by the sculptor of folds Pauline Loctin. For the first time, paper and pleated fabric converge in a single art installation, their distinct textures intertwined through the same meticulous folding techniques.

This installation invites the viewer into a space where the boundaries between form and feeling dissolve. Fabric, with its inherent transparency and fluidity, dances with the rigid yet sensuous curves of paper. These materials, traditionally seen as opposites, find harmony in their union, revealing new dimensions when light filters through the layers, casting shadows and illuminating the subtle interplay of folds and textures.

Each piece within Undress Your Soul is meticulously hand-painted with ink, where water plays a pivotal role. The fluidity of the ink, guided yet uncontrolled, mirrors the unpredictability of emotions. As the pigments flow and settle, they create an array of textures, each one unique, echoing the journey of the soul—unpredictable, yet beautifully profound.

This installation is more than a visual experience; it is an invitation to pause, reflect, and surrender. In this space, you are encouraged to shed the layers that shield your soul, allowing your true self to emerge, unguarded and free.
